Happy Hours We Love!
I meet people in many places who love sharing their favorite Happy Hour locations and menus! Whether or not restaurant owners love them, we diners sure do! It’s a great way to sample a restaurant’s “wares” without making the full commitment to what has become more expensive than it used to be. Sometimes happy hours suffice for dinner! Here are some of our favorites:
Chadds Ford Tavern: Happy Hour 7 days a week 4-6 pm, ½-price beer, wine and cocktails, and several price points for appetizers; “buck-a-shuck Oysters and Clams for only $1 each! Tavern atmosphere, dining room service also, and live music later. Phil Ferro, chef-owner, renovated this roadhouse that goes back to Civil War days and made it great again!
Brandywine Prime: (closed Mondays) Happy Hour Tuesdays-Fridays in the bar only where it is warm, friendly, and where there is a line at 4:25. Featuring professional and classy service from both bartenders and wait staff. Excellent wines, cocktails and food! Former historic inn from Revolutionary War era!
Avenue Kitchen: Just began Happy Hours from 4-6 pm and dinners on Fridays and Saturdays! It’s a great breakfast and lunch place (see Restaurant Review this month) 7 days a week, and now a weekend happy hour/dinner. Cocktails are handcrafted and deliciously original, and the “Spring Sips” are available Fridays and Saturdays.
Several other good happy hours to check out can be found at Two Stones Pubs, Firebirds, and Sullivan’s Steakhouse (M-F 3-5 pm). where you’ll find a more selections of food and drink.
