Winter is Here, and We Are Paying Attention to Heating Costs!
HVAC manufacturers have increasingly focused on efficiency, leading to more efficient furnaces today compared to those from 10 or 20 years ago. To improve heating efficiency without necessarily replacing your furnace, Joe and Mike Hoke, of H & H Heating & Air Conditioning, suggest you consider the following options to stay warm while saving money:
Install a Smart Thermostat: Replacing an outdated thermostat with a WiFi model allows you to control heating more efficiently, monitor energy use, and adjust temperatures remotely. Did you know that a smart thermostat allows you to keep the temperature lower when you're away and turn the heat up remotely just before you're ready to come home! Now that’s efficient! If you have fur babies, remember, they have fur, and you don’t. This device also allows you to monitor your energy use in the app and make adjustments accordingly.
Whether you simply schedule a maintenance appointment, call for repairs, or want to evaluate whether it’s time to replace your entire system, we hope to help you focus on efficiency this winter to find your maximum cost savings for the least financial outlay. Contact H & H Heating & Air Conditioning for an evaluation on your central heating system and best courses to increase efficiency and save heating dollars. www.DelcoHVAC.com, 610-616-4131.

- Schedule a Tune-Up: An annual tune-up (this can be part of a service contract so it happens on schedule) can improve any furnace's efficiency by cleaning and tightening parts, potentially saving you money on utility bills. The service technician can also address minor repairs promptly, ensuring your furnace operates efficiently and preventing higher costs in the long run.
- Consider a Heat Pump: If your furnace is over 10 years old and seems to need frequent repairs and seems to be losing efficiency, replacing it may be your best bet. Instead of going with another gas furnace, consider switching to a heat pump. Dual-fuel hybrid heat pumps run on electricity when the weather is relatively mild—but on the coldest days, they burn gas to generate more heat. Overall, they tend to be more efficient than furnaces, very different than the heat pumps of a decade or two ago. Many HVAC companies now install heat pumps.
